What they claim – A break to educate and inspire you to a healthier way of life by teaching you how to eat well and plan your diet for permanent weight loss rather than faddy quick fix diets. Break will include daily exercise (personal training, group classes, walking, swimming and stretching & relaxation classes), postural assessments and sports massage.
Experience – The break is not a bootcamp!!! It is a relaxed approach to a new way of thinking about food and exercise which will give you long lasting results. I would highly recommend this break to anyone of any fitness level who is interested in meeting like minded people who are keen to learn about healthy eating and exercising. You come away from this break with a new outlook on your eating, you realise much more the benefits of a healthy, organic/locally sourced produce diet and how this will help your body achieve its optimum in weight and exercise.
Food – Now there is no detox here, it is all healthy organic or locally sourced produce cooked in a simple healthy way. You are not rationed on your portion sizes and you can eat as much or as little as you want, although you do have a talk regarding your portion sizes and what types of foods you should be eating according to your body type.
Ambience – Country living at its best, a stunning location, beautiful, comfortable accommodation and together with friendly hosts.
Lucy Bryant, 32, from Beckenham on Personal Training
I have been training with Caroline since Christmas and have lost more than a stone. We do a mixture of weight and resistance training.
They are fun and really well thought out workouts and the variety means I get results. Caroline is very motivating and the plan is gym-based and three times a week. The best bit of working with someone else is the motivation element and that Caroline makes it such good fun. I use very different equipment than I'm used to and am not intimidated by the areas of the gym that are mainly dominated by men. I started going just twice a week and I've upped my weights every month and now can even do 'mens' press-ups. I now try for three times a week and have started running and Pilates. I'm so pleased with the results already and it's just over two months. Apart from being stronger and fitter, I sleep better, have more energy, am happier and don't seem as susceptible to the coughs and colds in the office. Caroline is firm but fair; she really took on board what I wanted and listened when I wasn't comfortable with a particular exercise and really adapted my programs to suit me. I've met with other personal trainers and felt I was just another gym member, with Caroline I really feel she cares about my progress.
I thought I had a fairly healthy diet but keeping a food diary and a session with Caroline soon showed some areas to improve on. Knowing someone will look back at what you ate the week before makes you more conscious what you consume. But the 80/20 rule means that nothing is banned – you just have to be sensible and listen to what your body needs. I had tried to tone up though swimming but needed to do more and different work outs and personal training and boot camp sessions twice a week are starting to make me feel so much better about myself. I hate gyms so being outside is great. I have worked with Ollie and Caroline. There is no way I would run round the park in shorts on my own but them being there makes it all possible. On their advice I have also found a great local yoga session to help stretch out those muscles in between sessions.
